WHO WE ARE

CodeYourFuture helps refugees and other disadvantaged people start thriving careers in tech. Our year-long coding courses are free of charge and we cover our students’ expenses.

We are passionate about diversifying the tech industry and empowering people to build meaningful careers. With 70% of our graduates gaining employment or access to further education, our courses have a real, tangible impact on people’s lives.

Our work is coordinated by a community of staff and volunteers from across the globe. They work together to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where our students can grow.

ROLE OVERVIEW

CodeYourFuture is looking for a Head of Outreach to set up a national and global ambassadors strategy and oversee the ambassadors teams across four regions in the UK as well as South Africa and Italy.

THE AMBASSADOR TEAM

You will work with the local coordinators to assess the outreach needs for each region and help create and support engaged groups of ambassadors that meet the outreach needs. 

CodeYourFuture has an unique, vibrant community of volunteers and students. The students often refer to the community as their family and the volunteers deliver vital elements of our program - as teachers, teaching assistants, mentors and more. 

The Ambassador team is responsible for bringing in and welcoming new volunteers and students into the organisation - working alongside local coordinators and the marketing function. 

Ambassadors tell the stories of CodeYourFuture via social media and elsewhere, and run events that show newcomers the amazing opportunities with CodeYourFuture. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Community coordination: One of the most important areas of the role is engagement. You will work together with the local coordinators to ensure we have enough engaged members of the Ambassador team in each region, and that the Ambassador teams have the tools to meet the outreach and recruitment goals for each region. You will oversee the efforts of the Ambassador team as they recruit and welcome the volunteers across the various volunteer teams (Ambassadors, Personal development, Education and Tech Projects)

Partnerships development : The Head of Outreach will also play a lead role in improving partnership strategy as well as ensuring we hit our partnership targets.You will work with the region coordinators to set up the outreach and recruitment goals for each city in order for them to launch their courses. For example, establishing partnerships with NGOs and universities to bring students and volunteers into the organisation. 

Social Media: With the support of the Digital Director and the CEO you will set up the organic social media strategy in order to reach our global goal. You will help the social media team in the planning and execution of the social media - ensuring our posts meet the strategy goals and content goals.  

PR: The Head of Outreach will lead the PR strategy, ensuring brand consistency in all efforts, while working with the CEO and Digital Director on messaging. You will help CodeYourFuture cultivate and maintain relationships with media and influential professionals, helping us to understand and find the unique stories and angles that will drive positive coverage for the organisation. You will write press releases, influencing and reporting on media coverage you generate. You will also work with our partners and the marketing leads on press releases. 

Event Planning: We run a number of events each month. The Outreach lead needs to ensure the events are properly promoted by the Ambassador teams, that they run smoothly, and the formats continue to improve in engagement and retention. In addition, we will ask the Head of Outreach to enhance our overall events strategy, along with the Digital Director and regional leads - continually finding the most fun and effective ways to promote our organisation.

ROLE SPECIFICS

  • Salary: £30,000 - 40,000 
  • Hours: Flexible, full time or part time based on experience
  • Location: Remote working, UK-based
